Mohawk-Hudson Region SCCA -- Go Kart Night

Go Kart Night is now history.

This was the first time that the activity was held on its own evening, rather than on a meeting night so it was something of a risk. I half expected maybe only four or five people to show up. I had no reason to be so pessimistic! The weather cooperated brilliantly and the turnout was as great or greater than it has been for our previous meeting night events. At least forty five members attended.

The first session got underway at about 7:45PM and the last session was over at about 10:30PM. Since there didn't seem to be a problem with non Mo-Hud members showing up (Paul is usually closed to the public on Monday evenings), we waived the sign in rigamarow and got straight to the action.

The usual cast of characters from the racing and solo communities showed up and some who have been more or less missing from our meetings also put in an appearance. The competition was fierce and the socializing was a lot of fun as people who had not seen each other in some time caught up on their various motorsport adventures.

Printed lap charts were available after each session listing the karts in order of fastest cumulative time as well as listing each lap time. Unfortunately due to the thundershower we had last week, the real time display only showed the last three times as one of the computer boards that drive the display fried!

We would like to thank Paul Balich, new owner of the track and Mo-Hud member and competitor for his gracious hospitality and for hosting a successful and fun event. Thanks also to the members for supporting the event.

Go Kart Night for Members and Guests
Victory Lane Go Karts
Mohawk Hudson Night at Victory Lane Speedway
Exit I90 #11 E
East on Rt.20 for 1 1/2 miles.
The track is on the right.

Our annual Go Kart outing is being held on Monday night, September 9, 2002. Rides and admission are limited to SCCA members, family and guests. You will have to check in, sign a release and receive a wrist band to purchase rides. Rides are discounted 50% and are $2.00 for each session.

Laps are timed automatically and we will probably recognize the fastest time of the evening with at least a big round of applause.

Track opens for our members at 7:00 PM with the first session getting underway around 7:30 PM.

Food and drink are available for purchase but bring your own if you wish. Sorry, alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Victory Lane provides picnic tables for your convenience.

Although that about sums it up, feel free to e-mail Activities Director Dave Wachtel with any questions you may have.

Victory Lane is owned by Mo-Hud member and competition driver Paul Balich.

IMPORTANT NOTE - If it rains, the karts cannot be run on the oval. If mother nature is not cooperative, the event will be rescheduled.
