ERIN CROCKER TO GREET FANS AT SARATOGA AUTO MUSEUM
Erin Crocker, the first woman to qualify for the world's most competitive sprint car race, the Knoxville Nationals "A" main, will be at the Saratoga Automobile Museum on Saturday, November 1st from 1-4 pm to meet the public and speak about a career she hopes will lead her to the Indianapolis 500.
Only 24 of the over 100 drivers entered qualified for the Knoxville, IA. Classic. It was only Crocker's third outing in her RPI sponsored 410 cubic inch sprint car after two years with the Empire Super Sprints 360 cubic inch racers and her performance earned her an invitation to race in Australia this winter. Crocker has since finished second at the Sharon Nationals in Ohio and was the fastest qualifier at the Mercer, PA All-Star event, making her the hottest personality in American racing.
Along with video of the RPI Engineering graduate in action, visitors will be able to inspect her 1200 pound, 800 horsepower sprint car and talk to the 22 year old phenom. Fans lined up for hours at Knoxville to get Crocker's autograph and she has since proven a popular speaker with both race fans and non-fans alike, as males and females of all ages appreciate her accomplishments and the stereotypical barriers she has overcome.
The Saratoga Automobile Museum is between Routes 9 and 50 on the Avenue of the Pines in the Saratoga Spa State Park. Admission is normally $7 but adults who mention Crocker's name will enter for $5 with kids under six free. Students from six to 16 are $3.50. The museum, currently featuring the "Summer of '57" and "Racing Across New York" exhibits, opens at 10 am.
