Hello Everyone,

The Patroon chapter of the BMW club has some openings in all levels for the Saturday April 17th Drivers school. This is a rare occurrence as the schools at LRP usually fill up right away.

For More information go here
http://home.nycap.rr.com/patroonbmw/DriversSchool.htm

You do not need to own a BMW to Attend!

Most of us involved with the Schools are SCCA members and this is not a half
assed school. You will have an instructor in the car to show you around the
track --or help you go faster. There is a great amount of track time and
classroom sessions as well. --Well worth the money.

A few items. You need your own helmet--no loaners available. No convertibles
unless they have an SCCA Roll cage. No open wheel cars. This is not racing
--but there is some more risk than you would see Autocrossing.

Also -- We will run at Watkins Glen June 21st and 22nd with NY Chapter go here

Hey Soloists ...
The event at Devins (in Massachusetts) was alot of fun. The course was fast, smooth, and challenging (could have used maybe one slow corner but I'm not complaining). No worry about going down the runway and then back up and having to design for two cars. It went down the main runway, turned onto a taxiway, turned again onto an apron area in front of the former control tower (a wide paved area), turned again onto another taxiway (or is it a runway), and then ended up back where you started. It was a 58 second course in a C Mod car! On each run I was huffing and puffing as I coasted down from the finish line.

Arn Beebe and Andy Furlong were there too, having fun. Even with the long drive (about 2 1/2 hours) it was worth it. Andy and Arn got up at O-dark thirty on Sunday. I left at 9 pm the night before and stayed at a hotel. Check out the NER schedule for the next Devins event.

For immediate release and posting to nedivsolo2.org and other sites.

As many of you know, we have lost the Griffiss Technology Park site for events.

This was not due to any problems or damage, but to the fact that a potential tenant has been found for the site and all public access has been stopped. This of course put our NEDiv National Tour in danger of not happening.

BUT, I just spoke with Tasha, and it looks like we have a site for the Tour.

The dates will remain in June, and the new site will be FedEx Field in the WDC region.

We are deeply indebted to the WDC region for stepping up to take on this task on such short notice, and I know that they will rise to the challenge. Please feel free to step up to offer help to Craig Garfield, the WDC region solo 2 chairman.

Be sure to pass the word along to your region mates and look for updates and more info at the National Solo 2 page and at www.nedivsolo2.org

I would like to thank Derek Wyman for originally volunteering to chair the Tour at the Griffiss Site, and all the others who he had already recruited as chiefs. It is always good to know that we have so many folks in our division who are willing to take on these jobs and it is well appreciated.

Dave: Because I'm ever the optimums I waited until today to write to you and
the Mo-hud web site to tell the members that the Solo schedule is now on
hold pending the location of a new site for our local and Griffiss series
events. We also at the SAC meeting this past Wednesday brought up certain
issues pertaining to entry fees in the event that we do have events this
season. With the increase in dues this year we felt that non members would
have to pay more at the Solo events. $15 for members of SCCA, $25 for
nonmembers, and up to $30 for late registrants at the events. Late
registration will be at the discretion of the event chair. Runs maybe missed
pending the tech of the vehicle. Only extraneous circumstances will late
registration be considered.

Hi Dave,

Bruce asked me to email you regarding MoHud's 2003 Solo II schedule. The Peripheral Lot has been closed because construction will soon start on a building that will take up that site. Griffiss is closed. Stratton Air National Guard base asked us to wait another year and ask again. Thus, at this juncture our region is left with no site for 2003.

We are actively pursuing new possibilities. However, if anyone has any knowledge of a potential Solo II site, we request that they email Solo II Chairman Bruce Kosakoski immediatly. Furthermore, we are in need of someone with professional expertice in negotiating with people (such as high level sales, public relations, politician, etc.). Such a person would greatly aid our chances of securing a site.

Until futher notice, there is no 2003 Solo II Schedule for Mohawk Hudson Region.

Please note that Griffiss will no longer be available to any group for
the various activities that occurred there. There is some type of big
deal going down and we have been informed that we may no longer use the
facility despite the fact that the Griffiss site managers liked dealing
with SCCA. They did say that in the future, another large site in the
area may become available but it will certainly not be for 2003.

SCCA National is looking into where to hold the NEDiv Tour event and
however this gets resolved, National will be your source of information,
or Tina Reeves, NEDiv Solo II Steward.

Here you go- yet another use for any excess duck tape after you finish
wrapping your house, car and family!
Forwarded from Nancy................ Jim----- Original Message -----From:
Just heard this on the news here locally. Apparently car thieves have
yet again found a way around the system and steal your car or truck
without hardly any effort at all.

The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or truck, write
down the VIN number from the label on the dash, go into the local
dealership for that car brand and request a duplicate key for it from
the VIN number.

Car dealerships make up a duplicate key from the VIN number, collect
payment from the 'customer' who's really a would-be car thief for making
up the duplicate key -- the car thief goes back to your vehicle, inserts
the key they've just gotten and off they drive with your car or truck.

They don't have to break in, don't have to damage the vehicle and draw
no attention to themselves as all they have to do is to walk up to your
car, insert the key and off they go to their chop shop with your vehicle!!!

Can you believe it?

To avoid this from happening to you, simply put opaque tape (like a
strip of electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN
label located on the dash board. You can't remove the VIN number
legally under most state laws, so cover it so that it can't be viewed
through the windshield by a car thief.

Anyway, feel free to forward this on before some other car thief steals
another car or truck like this.

Unbelievable!
