Why should I join, I don’t race?

Well what are you waiting for? There’s no better time to start! And it’s not necessary to be “into” competition as a driver to be a part of the club. Many of our members don’t compete, and most don’t own “race cars,” but they enjoy the excitement, camaraderie, and sense of accomplishment they get by participating in events as region officers, specialty chiefs, race workers, corner marshals, timers, registrars, rally check point officials or in some other capacity. Good company and good times are the rule.

Why should I join? I don’t own a sports car…

Well, neither do most of our members! Only a desire to be involved in the sport is required. And many of our Solo (AutoCross), RoadRally, and Track participants use their daily drivers to compete in events. As long as your car is road-worthy, we have a program for you.

Can my family join too?

Sure. There are levels of membership available for individuals and families. Discounts are offered for those in the military, families, and those age 24 and younger. See SCCA’s current information on membership for the latest pricing. Mohawk-Hudson Region’s dues as of 2025 are $20.

I’m sold, what do I do now?

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact our Membership Chair. You may e-mail the Membership Chair for more information, an explanation of dues, or for a paper membership application. Once received, send the paper form with the appropriate fee directly to the national office. You can also find more information and join at SCCA.com — remember to put Mohawk-Hudson Region (region #65 in the Northeast Division) as your region of record if you live in the area.

Request More Info!

You may e-mail our Membership Chair via the address available in the Region Directory, or you may use this form to contact our chair. Feel free to express an interest in whatever program or aspect of the club sparks your interest, and rest assured that we will get back to you with more information regarding what you have expressed an interest in. Thanks!

Monthly Meetings

The region’s monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and take place at various locations throughout the Capital District.  Check the home page for the latest info.

Meetings are usually a mix of a business meeting and social gathering. Traditional meetings feature a “dinner on your own” option starting around 6pm for socializing, and then official business beginning at 7:00pm.  All card-carrying or prospective members welcome!

The January meeting is the annual meeting and awards banquet, featuring a brief ‘state of the region’ meeting, election of officers for the coming season, and then trophies and annual region awards ceremony. This annual meeting program can vary depending on the venue’s availability.  Check the Knock Off membership letter beginning with October’s issue, or our Facebook group (“MoHud SCCA“) and the scheduled events for the group for details.

Dues

For more information and to join, visit SCCA.com or contact MoHud Membership Chair Jim Garry.

SCCA National has discontinued the referral discount program at this time for new members, although referring members do get credit, so if an existing member referred you, it’s always appreciated by the member if you give them credit.  If you were referred by an existing SCCA member, putting their member number on your application will earn the referring member a $10 discount on their membership renewal.

Weekend Memberships

Effective January 1, 2008, all competitors are required to be a SCCA member (includes Individual, Spouse, Family, First Gear, Lifetime and Military) or a Weekend Member. Solo participants who are weekend members pay an additional $20 for that weekend on top of the regular day’s entry fee. This provides SCCA weekend membership for five consecutive days. The additional $20 fee insures you for up to One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) for medical expenses in the event of an accidental injury (just like regular members), and you will receive one issue of SportsCar Magazine.

If you decide to join the SCCA as a regular member and do so within 60 days of participation as a weekend member, the application form becomes a $15 discount coupon that can be applied toward your first year’s SCCA membership dues. If you participate as a weekend member twice within a 60 day period, you can combine two $15 discount coupons and apply the $30 discount toward your membership dues.

First Gear Membership
Special discounted membership designed to help those age 21 to 24 get started. Delivers all the benefits of a regular membership at an exceptional value.

Individual Membership
Includes eligibility for all Club participation licenses, SCCA car decal, insurance benefits, and discounts on Club merchandise and other products and services.

Military Discount
If you are in active United States Military service, you qualify for a 20% discount of your dues, either individual or family.

Family Membership
For a prospective member and their spouse/domestic partner, or the whole family (children must be under age 21). Spouses/partners have the same benefits and privileges as Individual membership. Children also have the same benefits.

Please check out SCCA.com/membership for the latest information. Not ready to Join? If you still want more information about the club, you may contact our membership chair, or fill out the following form on SCCA.com to have an info packet mailed to you.

If you do not wish to join on-line, you can mail a membership application to the Sports Car Club of America, P.O. Box 299, Topeka, KS 66601-0299, or fax it to the membership department at (785) 232-7213.

    Hi Anne,

A competition license is only needed for those individuals who are interested in competing in road racing and enduros. Other programs, such as Solo (autocross), Rallycross, and Time Trials, do not require a competition license. Competitors are required to have a valid drivers license and a vehicle that can pass a technical/safety inspection, but most well-maintained street cars are capable of doing this.
