55 Solo Entrants Kick Off the 2015 Solo Season

Beautiful sunny weather and the desperate need to cure the cabin fever that afflicted many this past winter combined to bring out 55 entrants to Event 1 of the 2015 MoHud Solo season. The event took place at the OGS McCarty Ave lot, our sole Solo site for the foreseeable future.

Some MoHud organizers were absent but patience by the entrants combined with some other members stepping up helped keep things rolling.  Many thanks to Russ Burckhard for stepping in and laying out a course while we try to fill the gap left by departing course designer Bert Huiest.  Miguel Texeira did a great job in registration covering for the absent Phil Shoemaker, with some much-appreciated help from John Rogers.

The 2015 season debuts the “Pro” class for MoHud, intended to gather some of the most experienced Solo racers from the MoHud Solo program and allow them to go head-to-head despite coming from many different classes, while giving some newcomers the ability to compete for trophies in the legacy trophy classes of Street, Street Prepared, Street Touring/Modified, Modified & Prepared, and Kart.

In the new Pro class, Jon Staude, Russ Burckhard, and Andy Furlong took the first 3 positions, separated by less than 0.8 secs in PAX.

Meanwhile in Novice, Alex  and Saul Morse battled for the top step, with Alex just edging out Saul by less than 0.2 seconds.  Adam Wright took 3rd place, about 1.8 seconds out of 2nd.

PAX results have been posted on the Solo Results page.  Full results should be posted up hopefully no later than Thursday, May 7th.
